Lan is originally from Texas. She moved to California many years ago to study at Whittier College. As a college student, she enjoyed teaching and working with small children and their families. She owned and operated a tutoring office her junior year of college. Lan decided that she wanted to become an Occupational Therapist and closed her tutoring office to focus on getting into OT school. She graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a degree in Occupational Therapy in one hand and a business plan in her other hand. Upon graduation, she worked in the school district, in early intervention and at an inpatient hospital. After many years of practice, she followed her business plan and opened the first clinic for Carrico Pediatric Therapy in 2015.
Lan is certified in the administration and interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT). She is a Handwriting Specialist with Handwriting without Tears. She received training by Debra Beckman in the Beckman Oral Motor Protocol. In addition, she is certified to utilize the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) approach to feeding, with specialized training from the founder, Kay Toomey. She also received training in NDT from Lois Bly. She takes pride in the continuing education courses she hosts yearly with top leaders in the profession.
When she is not working, Lan enjoys traveling, shopping, hiking, and spending time with her husband, daughter, son and furbabies.
